Writers Needed
Hail Wesnothian! If this is your first visit you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Enjoy!
Do you like to write but don’t have a place to do so?
Do you want to participate in Wesnoth but cannot draw or code?
Would you like to raise awareness for the game and and/or free software?
Well, this is the place to be.
We’re always looking for talented writers to join the team here at the Wesnoth Journals and as this is meant to be a collaborative blog, the more people that are willing to join and write for us, the better for the whole community it will be.
Joining is easy. As soon as you register, you will become a contributor, which means you will be able to access the admin page and write a post. You will not be able to publish it immediately (to avoid spam) but when the article is finished, you will be able to mark is as ready for review. Then an admin or editor of the site will proof-read it and approve it. There’s nothing else to it.
Once you’ve written a few articles and proven that you are a capable contributors, then you will be raised to the ranks of Authors which will allow you to post without approval.
So what kind of articles are we looking for? Well that should be obvious but here is a short list.
- Campaign development - Progress reports, issues encountered and how they were resolved etc. Generally things that will help other campaign writers with their own campaign
- Development reports - What is in the future for Wesnoth?
- Art progress - What new goodies are coming.
- Interviews - Grab the attention of a developer and get him to answer a few short questions.
- Fan Fiction - Currently, outside the campaigns and the official storyline, there is precious storyline. It would really help out the fleshing of the world to get some more of this, as well as give future campaign developers ideas. You can write a fan fiction from everything, from the epic multiplayer battle you had with your buddy over the server (where it came down to 1v1 leader battle) to the struggle of Konrad during the assault of the Fortress.
- Other free software/game related articles - Although these should be kept to a minimum, it might help to give some variety by, for example, talking about progress in Allacrost.
So, if you’re interested, all you need to do is start here
